If you really can’t wait, a used copy the 2nd ed. ed) would be a good choice it’s out of print, but a new 3rd edition (new title: The Arthurian Concordance) has already been kickstarted. Phyllis Ann Karr’s Arthurian Companion (2nd. Instead of more Pendragon supplements, get a decent Arthurian encyclopedia or other work of reference next. If you find you really cannot stop there, get the Great Pendragon Campaign as well. My advice would be: Get the rulebook – 5.2 should be available soon in an offset-printed (i.e. I should add though that Stafford just did a kick starter for the final edition of the system and also for a Charlemagne adaptation, so you may want to wait for that. But it's mostly corner case stuff, and most retooling isn't major. Generally speaking the books that have been printed most recently have the most current errata. The knights and ladies one is fun if you want to try to play something like a Pictish, Irish, or Saxon character transplant, which are also some nice options. I particularly like the book of the manor since that allows you to play a knight who actually cares about his peasants or tries to build up his land to become a banneret (it also gives more realistic swings in player fortunes when good and bad weather strikes), Estates sort of overrides it though when you start getting to larger holdings. The battles one allows for more streamlined large scale combat (rather than just doing several iterations of normal combat), the knights and ladies and manor/estate ones just give you more options for characters and their dynastic holdings. These provide year by year adventure outlines as well as winter events, rumors, etc. If you want more time in the Uther period, you will need the Book of Uther. The Great Pendragon Campaign is necessary if you want to run a campaign following the rise and fall of Arthur. The Book of Armies is an optional supplement to the Book of Battle that provides extra army tables to provide opponents to fight. You can do it without this book, but it expands the rules from the core book to scale better and provide a better experience. is for those who want expanded rules for running large scale battles.

(It basically expands the Book of Estate to include Baronies, Counties, etc. The Book of the Baron is the next step up and won't be necessary at first. However, if you want an expanded economic and land system, you should get the Book of Estate.
